visit to la esmeralda
We first met Cesar in May 2026 after purchasing several of his coffees the previous year. Visiting his farm brought a deeper appreciation for the dedication behind every harvest. Perched high in the Colombian mountains, the farm's exceptional altitude contributes to remarkable sweetness and complexity in the cup, but it also presents daily challenges. Access is via a single narrow, winding road, making the transport of coffee, equipment and supplies difficult- particularly during the rainy season.
Despite these obstacles, Cesar's optimism is unwavering. His passion for coffee is evident in every conversation, and his meticulous approach to farming and processing reflects a genuine commitment to producing the very best coffee possible. It's this combination of resilience, humility and pursuit of quality that makes working with Cesar so rewarding.
